Howdy y'all! Its time to update the good ole Evan-n-Ty Blog.

First things first Evan has recieved his new orders. Ty and Evan will be spending the Next fourish years of their lives in Virginia. Evan will be stationed at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, and will be working in the Laboratory. After the wedding in march they will Load up the Car and start the excursion to their new home on the East coast.Exciting!!

In the Meantime, Thanksgiving has come and gone and was it a good one. Evan was able to suprise Ty and show up at her Mom's house the day before Thanksgiving to spend the holiday with her and her family. It was an excellent meal and Ty baked the most AMAZING pies for desert. She is a really good baker. She made home Made apple pie, pumpkin Pie, and pumpkin cheesecake. Evan got to enjoy the Pie for breakfast 3 days in a row. :)

The Day after Thanksgiving Evan and Ty spent the day christmas shopping and got Evan's wedding ring picked out. Then spent the evening watching a movie as a family.

On saturday The family got up and went Christmas tree hunting. After getting lost in the countryside surrounding portland they finally found their destination and, after some family pics infront of the tree, Mark and Evan Cut it down and hauled it to the Truck. The family then enjoyed a nice family Lunch at AppleBee's before heading home to set up the tree.

Sunday Ty, Evan, and Natalie (Evan and Ty's little sister) drove to the airport and after goodbyes, Evan headed back to Virginia to work until Christmas.

It was a really great experience spending the holidays with family and made me really thankful for the wonderful family that surrounds and loves us. I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays!!

Ok new wedding news From Evan and Ty.

We now have a wedding party picked out, Florist, Venue, Caterer, We (and by we I mean Ty) are meeting with a photographer this week, We have engagement Photos being taken on Aug 30th, and Everything is falling into place for a very special March 14th, 2009.

Sooooooooooooooooo on to the Other news: Evan is about to finish the didactic phase of his Advanced Lab Tech School. Starting next week he will begin a grueling 6 month rotation at the hospital, working every laboratory department, and taking a test every week about what has been learned. In the meantime he is getting all geared up for Ty's trip out to Virginia for Labor Day weekend. We have alot planned and alot to do so it should be a great vacation for both of us, and we are both looking foward to spending sometime together after 2 months apart. After this trip we will not be together again till Christmas, when we will be in California Visiting Ty's family.

While Evan is busy on the East coast, Ty is even Busier in the west! Next week she is going with her mom, Jennie, and Amy to Purchase her dress. EXCITING!!! She has done an amazing job planning the wedding with me so far away, and has been awesome about including me in the process. She calls me over Skype to discuss the details of the wedding and Our conversations are always a blast (and almost always end in a game of scrabble where Ty destroys me) I fall more and more in love with her as each day passes, and we both are counting down the days until March 14.

Well now you all know whats goin on in our world. Have a fantastic day and we love y'all!!

New news from the Evan front.

Last weekend was the most amazing weekend ever.

A few months ago I asked Ty if she wanted me to be her date for her mom and new dad Mark's wedding. She said yes, sooooo I bought a ticket to go to portland for 2 nights and one day.

Flash foward to July 11. After School I got a ride to Richmond and promptly boarded my flight to Portland. The first leg of the flight was uneventful. Then on my second flight before takeoff a flight attendant came up to me and told me a man in first class gave me his seat. So I got to fly in first class from Kentucky to Portland.

When I landed in Portland I called Ty and told her I was walking towards security. When she hung up the man standing behind her said,"Is every girl here waiting for their man?" Ty turned and said yes and chatted with the man and his Daughter who were there and found out that she also was waiting for a sailor, and it was the first time her dad would meet him. As I walked out of security I saw Ty and as soon as she saw me she rushed over to me and gave me a huge hug, and we had our first real kiss. Because I was in uniform still the whole crowd gave us oooohs and awwwwws. It was cute.

As we passed the gentleman who Ty spoke to he asked us if we wanted a picture.

I answered "well actually I would like a picture", and I set down my bags, and reached into my pocket for a velvet box that had traveled 3000 miles with me. As I pulled it out a small crowd surrounded us. and I told Ty I loved her. Then I took her hand and put the ring n her finger. She gave me the biggest hug and kiss and I said to her, "You light up my sky, you wanna get married?"

The crowd clapped and people we didn't know snapped pictures of us. Then people shook my hand and said thank you for serving, and told Ty congratulations.

I flew to portland to go see my girlfriend, and Ty went to the airport to pick up her boyfriend. . . But we left as a future husband and his future wife.

I am so thankful for her and I love her so much. I am so happy to be marring her and never in my wildest dreams ever thought I would ever find a woman as marvelous as her. I look foward to spending forever by her side.

July 04, 2008 (Friday)

Ok, so its the 4th of July! I have today off then I have 2 days of duty. . .soooooo I will be having a pretty dull fourth of July :).

Ty is in Yosemite for the Fourth. She just rode her quad up a moutain to the to[ just so she could get phone service to call me and tell me she misses me and to wish me a happy Fourth of July. :) I told her I have to work and her response was "well Ill be thinkin about you while I am layin in the sun and swimming. . . and I love you!" I told ya she is the best. Who else do you know who will ride up to the top of a moutain, Just to call their love and tell them they were thinking about them? I guess for Ty there Truely, "aint no moutain high enough". lol

Currently i started two new classes since I last wrote. I am in Clinical Urinalysis, and Clinical Microbiology.

Urinalysis is taking what I already learned in Clinical Chemistry I and II and adding on to what we've learned. Instead of doiing tests on serum and urine the focus in Urinanalysis is obviosly as the name implies, urine. Basically it is a little chemistry and a little Miscroscopy. You would be suprised all the stuff floatin around in your pee. lol. Seriously, There are all sorts of lil crystals, alkiline (or acidic garbage) and bacterial contamination.

Clinical Microbiology is moving us into appling all we learned abot bacteria in General microbiology, and appling it to the identification of pathogenic bacteria. It is crazy all the memorization I have to do. Mostly it is memorizing two bacteria that are similar (by the biochemical tests used to identify them) then what test will differentiate between the two. I also have to learn the symptoms of disease caused by each bacterial pathogen. Crazy stuff.

After i finish these two clases all I have left is blood bank (which is all about serotyping blood) and Clinical Microbiology II. (which is mostly Mycology (identifing fungi), and Virology (identifing Viruses))Then its off to clinicals I go.

Well, I gotta get goin, I have got to get my uniform ready for work. It needs to be cleaned. Every little bit of dust and grime loves the Navy whites.

I love you all. (unless I dont like you and you are reading this. . .In that case disregard that last sentance) Please, be safe this forth of July, and I will post another blog soon!!!

Well I havent put up a blog to the Fam in a while so I thought I would fill in those of you who are in the dark about what is up with Ev.

First off I want to tell you all about Ty. I gotta announce to y'all that I love her. :) I want the whole family to know so I am posting it on here. :) She is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. I am very lucky to have found her. Funny that with out what I went through in the past year i would never have Ty. :) I know this will be my last relationship (if you catch my drift). So thats my relationship status. :)

School is goin well, I have about 7 months left. only 2 of which are in class. The rest are in clinicals rotating to each bench in the Laboratory. There are basically 6 lab departments. They are: Chemistry, Microbiology, Hematology, Blood bank, Phlebotomy, Urinanalysis, & histology. In each is sub departments like microbiology has Mycology, Virology, ect.

As for work im doin great. I am now HM3 Fitch. Im excited. I guess we will see what the future holds. :) well I gottta go get somethin to eat. Have a great night Everybody!!

May 26, 2008 (Monday)

I just had the most fun weekend I have ever had in my life!

This weekend was Memorial Day weekend. My best friend Ty flew in and we went to Virginia Beach on Friday night and walked on the beach and listened to the live bands that play along the beach during the summer. Some were good but one musician was playing Michael Jackson songs, and he was good at guitar . . . but he didn’t sing them that well. lol

Then on Saturday we got up and Drove up to Baltimore to go to the Aquarium. We saw their exhibit on frogs, watched stingrays, went to the dolphin show, and saw the rainforest there. After that we went to the Hard Rock Cafe in Baltimore, because they have an outside seating area on the pier now, so we went there and ate burgers and talked and had alot of fun.

Then it was back in the car where while passing a slow moving vehicle, I got pulled over for speeding. Apparently the speed limit went down from 65 to 55. OOPS.

Sunday morning we got up and Drove to the National Naval Medical Center Bethesda. There we went into the hospital and I got money from the ATM, and hopped on the train to DC.

Memorial day weekend in Washington DC is a very solemn time. ALOT of vets were there and it made me proud to see them and know that I am carrying on the traditions of the Finest military in the world. The rolling thunder parade was goin on so all we heard all day were motorcycles rumbling the streets next to the mall as vets drove by.

One moment I will never forget was when taps was played at the Vietnam memorial. I heard the first note float over the breeze and stopped in my tracks and stood still and listened as one bugler paid respect to his friends and comrades who gave their lives for freedom in the rice fields, and mountain terrain of Vietnam.

I saw the Lincoln memorial and read the Gettysburg address. I saw the Washington monument. WE went to the white house. The capital and we hand fed geese in the reflection ponds there. We saw the Natural History Museum and went in to the Air and Space Museum.

Then we hopped back on the train to Arlington National cemetery. We paid for the bus tour and rode up to the Kennedy family grave site. Then it took us up to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers. While there we were witness to an even that has been running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year at that hallowed place. The changing of the guards. Afterwards we drove back to Hampton Va.

Sunday WE got up and went to Jamestown Settlement for the day. We went on historic ships in Jamestown harbor, watched black powder musket demonstrations, explored the fort, and Indian village. Then I took Ty to the airport and she flew back to Oregon.

I have got to say that I am thankful for a best friend like her. Through everything that has happened in the past year she has been my friend and stood by me. I am very glad she got to come visit Virginia. I have not had such a good time in quite a while. I am posting the pictures so that you all can see the trip. Enjoy!!

Well, The first 2 months of lab tech school. I finished Biochemistry, Organic, and Inorganic Chemistry, as well as math, and Human Biology. They say that the first two months are the hardest part, so The next ten months are gonna be all down hill. This next 10 days i will be in Phlebotomy, again. Even tho I already have my cert, I have to still take the class. So far I am not first in the class, but I am not the last, so I should get ok orders. Alot of the last class to graduate went to Okinawa, Japan, and the class right before me is getting their orders soon. Once I hear where they are goin, I will be able to feel out what kinda of orders are being given to Lab tech students. I will keep y'all posted. :) I gotta get to bed, so have an awesome night!!
